Signs that Jane is really gone

The rug by the front door is straight.

Jane and Ember moved out last Tuesday. The rug has not been kitty-surfed since.


I also have un-shredded toilet paper rolls out in plain sight for the first time in two years. I look forward to not having to tell guests where the toilet paper is hidden.


But I still miss Ember's furry antics. My two old cats seem faintly puzzled by the peace and quiet.

I miss Jane dreadfully.

She needs to be on her own. This is a good thing. But, DAMN, Seattle is far away.
